VILT
Over the last several years I've lead scores of virtual instructor lead trainings. These VILTs fall into two basic categories, in-house and client-based consulting contracts. The preparation and delivery for the consulting contracts is quite similar to Instructional Design practices, while the in-house trainings are less work intensive since I function as my own SME.
Working through a contract with an outside organization, much of my role was consistent for the projects I was involved in. My responsibilities included interviewing SMEs and staff, reviewing contract requirements, planning, materials development, updating and scheduling with the client, then finally delivering the training and any associated training assets.
As part of my work teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) and Adult Basic Education (ABE) I regularly plan and deliver trainings to volunteers and staff on instructional strategies and related topics. I also train a range of volunteers to get them acquainted with the nuts and bolts of volunteering as well as teaching skills to help students one-to-one.
