508 Accessibility
Developing these course modules was all about applying 508 accessibility standards to course design. From a visual design perspective, this meant using a highly readable font, lots of white space for readability, predictable visual formatting, and high contrast foreground and background color choices. To verify foreground and background contrast levels I used the WebAIM Contrast Checker. This ensured that I was passing WCAG AAA large and normal text readability, and WCAG AA graphical objects and user interface standards in this course.
Other elements of the course I included are alt-text, captioning, voiceover, descriptive links, and customized focus order for screen reader functionality. The new voice-to-text feature in Articulate 360 allowed for narration of the script, reducing the need for a text-heavy presentation.
